• Nashville. Pre-war closets are tiny and often none at all, and the answer is a wardrobe system in the bedroom or a converted small room; the designer works with what the house has.
• Brentwood. Newer houses have walk-in closets with wire shelving, and the standard job is a full system — double hang, shelves, drawers, a hamper — in the master and reach-in upgrades elsewhere.
• Murfreesboro. The 2000s subdivisions built generous walk-ins with the builder’s minimum inside them; a designed system in one is the highest-value upgrade in the house for the money.
• Hendersonville. Older houses have closets with odd angles, chimneys and sloped ceilings, and the system is drawn to the room rather than the template.
• Columbia. Pre-war closets are tiny and often none at all, and the answer is a wardrobe system in the bedroom or a converted small room; the designer works with what the house has.
• Lebanon. Rural houses have the mudroom, the pantry and the garage to organize as much as the closets, and the designer plans them together.
